Launch guidelines
What you can launch
DodoLaunch is for software people can use today: SaaS products, web apps, desktop and mobile apps, browser extensions, APIs, developer tools and AI products. A launch needs a working product at a public URL. Waitlists and landing pages without a usable product are not eligible.
- New products, and major new versions of existing products.
- Open-source projects with a usable release.
- Free, freemium and paid products are all welcome.
The quality gate
Every submission is reviewed before it is scheduled. We reject:
- Products whose main purpose is SEO spam, link schemes, mass content spinning, or fake reviews.
- Scams, gambling, adult content, malware, or anything that breaks the law where you operate.
- Copies of another product with no meaningful difference, or listings that impersonate a brand you do not own.
- Listings with misleading claims, invented customer logos, or fabricated metrics.
If we reject a launch we tell you why, and you can fix it and resubmit.
Writing a good listing
- Tagline: say what it does and for whom, in plain words. "Invoices for freelancers in 30 seconds" beats "The future of work".
- Pricing: list your real plans. Buyers filter by free plan and starting price, and our comparison pages are built from this data.
- Features, platforms and use cases: fill them in. They decide which best-of, alternatives and use-case pages you appear on.
- Screenshots: show the product, not stock art.
Scheduling
Launch weeks run Monday 00:00 UTC to Sunday 23:59 UTC. Free launches take the next open slot; there are 25 free slots per week so every launch gets real attention. Boost and Pro launches can pick any open week.
You can reschedule a launch before it goes live. Once a week starts, the launch runs to the end of that week.
How the board ranks
Organic rank comes from trust-weighted community votes and quality comments. Paid tiers never add to this score.
Pro launches also appear in a separate Featured lane, clearly labelled. The details are on our transparency page.
Voting and promotion rules
Share your launch anywhere and ask people to check it out. What is not allowed:
- Buying votes, comments or reviews, or trading votes in groups.
- Creating accounts to vote for yourself.
- Asking for upvotes in exchange for anything.
Vote weight depends on account age and verification, so new or suspicious accounts count for little. Votes that our fraud checks flag are voided, and repeated abuse removes the launch from the board.
Link policy
All outbound clicks go through a bot-filtered redirect, so your private maker dashboard can show the clicks we sent you. The link on your product page is:
- Free launches: dofollow while the DodoLaunch badge is live on your site. We check it daily. If it goes missing, you get a 7-day grace period, then the link becomes nofollow until the badge is back.
- Boost and Pro: permanent dofollow, no badge required. Refunds and chargebacks remove it.
Every product page shows its current link status, so there are no surprises.
Relaunching
You can relaunch the same product after 6 months, or earlier with a relaunch credit if you have shipped something significant. Relaunches should come with a changelog entry so voters can see what changed.
Comments and conduct
Be useful and kind. Makers are encouraged to answer questions on their launch. Self-promotion in other makers' threads, harassment and spam are removed. Report anything that breaks these rules from the product page.
